After a season interrupted by an unscheduled cruise ship, a crash and some mixed up weather, the final round of the 2019-20 Zero Friction Time Trial went to plan on Sunday morning.

Fine, clear conditions
Unfortunately due to a rider crashing on the course yesterday, many people's races were affected. Thanks to the riders who stopped immediately after the crash and rendered assistance to the riders involved. Some riders were stopped to avoid further riders riding past the crash site, once emergency services vehicles were called and/or were in attendance. All riders who started yesterday's race behind Rider #29 are therefore shown in the results as 'Not Placed (NP), as are riders who stopped to assist.

For the purposes of the Zero Fiction TT Series, the best 3 of 4 rounds (must ride at 3 rounds) will count towards the Zero Friction Cycling series prizes. Riders who starting yesterday's event but awarded a 'Not Placed' due to the race crash will still have that ride count towards the series, your % race average will be taken on your other rounds completed (eg best two or three as appropriate).
Thanks to the many people who showed concern to the injured rider, Kat Chung-Orr yesterday and asking after her today. She did suffer a lower body fracture and we and the Chung-Orr family thank everyone for their kind concern.
PACC (and SAPOL) reminds all riders it’s the law in South Australia that riders/drivers are required to travel at 25km/h when riding through an emergency service speed zone.
The 25km/h Emergency Service Speed Zone applies on an area of road:
- In the immediate vicinity of an emergency service vehicle that has stopped on the road and is displaying a flashing blue or red light; or
- Between two sets of flashing blue or red lights that have been placed by an emergency worker at either end of a length of road on which an emergency vehicle has stopped.
- It does not apply if you are driving on a road that is divided by a median strip and the emergency service speed zone is on the other side of the road beyond the median strip.
We marked the first day of summer and our first time trial of the series with unseasonably cold, windy and drizzly weather. Despite the BOM showing expected winds of 39 - 44 km/h and rain of 3mm during the event, it was quite mild and reasonably dry from start to finish. A number of those who had entered chose to stay in bed, but some riders who toughed it out were rewarded with PBs.
Today saw the last of the 2018-19 Zero Frictiion Cycling Time Trials at the windless (yes, that's what the BOM says) Outer Harbor. It was a dark start, but the weather couldn't have been more perfect. Regular participants were joined by 25 athletes taking part of the Invictus Cycling Pathways program being held this weekend, so the field was at capacity.
Round 3 of the 2018-19 Zero Friction Cycling Time Trial Series was held this morning with 52 riders taking to the course, including 8 juniors from the second start line at Harrold Street. A steady breeze kept the temperature down, and the mosquitos active.
Near perfect conditions (14 degrees, sunny, 7km/h ESE winds) for the second round of the Zero Friction Cycling Time Trial at Outer Harbor. Mat Franks started the day with a win in the random draw for a new chain. Thanks Adam Kerin for your continued support.
For the second season running Zero Friction Cycling is back to spice up the PACC TTs as a series. Time trials are considered the pure 'race of truth' - it's just you versus the clock - no excuses!

Today saw the final round of the 2017-18 PACC Zero Friction Cycling Time Trial season. The field was small, but the racing was fast – on the way out at least – but a headwind on the way home slowed the average speeds. You can check out the race 5 results here and a round by round recap here.
